Stepan Zoryan wrote his historical novel King Pap during the difficult years of the Second World War (1941–1943). To inspire and uplift the national spirit, the author depicted the most challenging and fateful events in the life of the young King Pap and in the history of Armenia—events in which, thanks to the Armenian spirit and patriotism, the country was liberated from the enemy’s yoke.
